(hopefully) this will follow some major changes that I want, need & intend to make during the next 16 mnths of my life.I will be 50 in 16 months and hope & pray I can make some changes by then. I dont have much confidence in the outcome of this which is not a brilliant start, but it is a start. . I'm bringing up 3 children alone, Sometimes I think I'm doing it well . . .other times not so well. Always I think in the back of my mind it will be different, better . . .when I grow up.

The right teeth!
In the words of Pam Ayres (sp?) O I wish I'd looked after me teeth! O Booo Hooo Baaa Hoooo. Woe is me. I actually did look after my teeth. I still do. These pictures are 13 yrs ago . . . just as I started on Heroin.
I don't suppose for one minute there is a dentist reading this who can tell me this is possible. I can have these teeth. Surely it's possible to make false teeth any size?
Sure, I din't expect them white, I'm almost fifty and I'm more than happy with the shade the dentist chose for my new top teeth . . . he got that right.
I'm sorry to go on about this. I'm not a vain person by any means . . . But this matters.
Ok I'll leave it at that that for now. I realise it's not exactly fascinating . . . but I need a record of these things.
I'm part way into Silverhip (part one) . . . For obvious reasons Silverhip and Higgins will run concurrent for a while.

You had a very pretty smile. I'm sure it still is - but I don't blame you for wanting it the same as it was - not like a manufactured smile that everyone can tell is fake. I don't think it's vanity to WANT "imperfections". I'm only using that term because the so called experts would say your old teeth weren't perfect - while I'm positive, they'd be part of what was so endearing about who you are.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter once asked me, if I could have any plastic surgery at all for free, what would I have done? And I couldn't think of a single thing I'd change. This is who I am.
Yes Jeannie he did say that . . but I told him I wanted them complete with over-bite and slightly protruding . . . Just as they are . . I still have the front SIX at the top so it's not like he has nothing to go by.
DeleteThe gum has receded slightly and the canines need some work at the back of them but he's adamant they need to be taken out . . . I'm more than happy for him to take them out as long as he will replace them.
That's so good that you wouldn't have anything changed. That says a lot about you. I would only want my teeth sorting :-)
If you still have teeth, they could be capped. I think that as a society we put so much emphasis on physical perfection and not enough on being better spiritually and emotionally.
ReplyDeleteI still have all the front top ones (bottom ones are all fine) . . . But the dentist says it's not worth working on the top front (fillings behind them and 2 caps need replacing) as the gum has receded and he just wants them out and replaced.
DeleteI agree that way too much emphasis is put on physical perfection . . . I wasn't in the least bit bothered whilst I was on the gear.
In fact "junky teeth" were quite useful in some situations . . . But I'm clean now and as well as working on my emotional/spiritual well being . . . I'd like to be able to smile and not be judged. Especially now I find myself smiling/laughing more :-)
Good for you. I am glad that you are smiling and laughing more. Good luck with it all. The dentist has been kind to me as I have excellent teeth. Genetics, I guess, plays a part.
DeleteYou have a beautiful smile, sweetie! Can you take these pictures to your dentist and insist that these are the teeth you want - not the one's he says you can have...if that makes sense? You've come this far, you deserve it!
ReplyDeleteThanks L-ovey . . . Yes I found these photos out ready to take to him. If he can't guarantee that the permanent set will look like this then I'll have to re-think. Who knows? Maybe it will lead to something better. Here's hoping :-)
DeleteOne of my front teeth is a cap. I paid an obscene amount for it, but they used the other front tooth as a mould and put in a mirror image. Overbite and waggly edges and all. They wouldn't put in a teeny weeny tooth is there were some to compare it with. Continue your fight. Particularly if they will make your bottom teeth look weird.
ReplyDeleteGrrr. I am not a fan of dentists. One slapped me once years back. Because I had tears in my eyes. Not falling. No noise. I cannot tell you what I wish on that woman but painful piles are a start.
Hugs.
Yes the two teeth either side of my "front two" are capped . . . even in the photos. They have come loose and I had to take them out but the posts are still in the gum. I'm gonna have to research this and find out a bit more about dentures . . . Before I let them take my few remaining teeth out :-/
DeletePs . . . They used to be able to get away with slapping people and holding kids heads in a "clamp" whilst they forced the gas (anaesthesia) mask on . . . I had awful experiences at the dentist as a child and still have nightmares to this day. I'll be glad when this nightmare is over.
DeleteI hope she got the painful piles too. I do think some of them are a tad sadistic.
Well can we see the new teeth that aren't ok so we can compare? Your smile from 13 years ago is beautiful. Can you show your dentist those pictures!?
ReplyDeleteYes I got the pictures out for him . . . I did take a picture on the web-cam of the denture but it's hard to make a size comparison from a photo. My two front teeth are 11mm and on the denture they are 9mm . . . 2mm does not sound a lot but it makes a big difference. I'll try and get a better picture of the dreaded denture.
DeleteI lost the good half of one of my big ones the other day... the dentist was like "well if only you'd looked after like you do now when you were 10 - 20... bollocks!
ReplyDeleteAlthough as I previously mentioned the work I had done 20 years ago has stood the test of time so far ok
At age 50, I got a partial, so I know just how you feel. DRUGS, didn't destroy my teeth, I was born with bad teeth/bones/what have you. Honestly, I am lucky to even be alive. That is another story though! Plus, I have 7 years on you, getting old isn't for sissie's!
ReplyDeleteA girlfriend, 2 days older than I told me that once, I agree with her, now I do.... didn't at 1st. Plus, if I had 1/3 of the $$$ I spent on my teeth, I would be set.
Love,
Maureen
I like that "getting old isn't for sissies" too true.
DeleteI wouldn't mind if the denture was true to lfe at all . . . I was quite resigned and ready for it . . . until I saw it :-(
I'm still thinking on it.
Nice to see you still here reading, Thanks maureen.
